Saudi Arabia has officially launched the new Al Jouf International Airport, marking a significant upgrade in the Kingdom’s aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity. The new facility replaces the previous airport, with operations fully transitioned following the inaugural flight.

The airport introduces a substantial increase in capacity, with the ability to handle up to 1.6 million passengers annually, compared to approximately 175,000 passengers at the former facility—representing growth of over 800%.

Direct connectivity with the UAE is already in place, with scheduled flights to and from Dubai operated by Flydubai and Saudia, reinforcing travel and business links between the two markets.

Key Features of the New Terminal:

  • Total built-up area of 24,000 sqm
  • 16 check-in counters, including self-service options
  • 11 arrival and departure gates
  • Dual passport control counters for efficient processing
  • 648 parking spaces for passenger convenience
  • Integrated commercial and passenger service facilities

The airport has been designed in line with international standards, with a strong focus on accessibility and passenger experience. Dedicated sensory rooms have been introduced to support travelers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), alongside inclusive services for people of determination.

In addition to its operational capabilities, the airport reflects the cultural identity of the Al Jouf region. The design incorporates heritage-inspired elements, complemented by 5,000 sqm of landscaped green spaces featuring olive trees—symbolic of the region’s agricultural heritage.

This development underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing investment in infrastructure to support tourism, trade, and economic diversification, while enhancing connectivity across the GCC.
