Sharjah–Saudi Trade Bridge to Enhance Regional Logistics and Cargo Efficiency

A new trade corridor has been announced linking Sharjah in the UAE with Saudi Arabia, marking a strategic step toward deeper logistics integration and more efficient cargo movement across the Gulf. The initiative comes at a time when supply chain resilience and operational efficiency are increasingly critical for regional trade.

The corridor is designed to streamline the flow of goods between Sharjah and Dammam through a fully integrated land and sea transport network. By reducing transit times and improving coordination between ports and inland logistics hubs, the initiative is expected to deliver faster and more reliable cargo movement.

Developed in partnership between the Saudi Ports Authority and Gulftainer, the trade bridge introduces several key capabilities:

Direct connectivity between Sharjah and Dammam

Multimodal transport integration across land and sea

Accelerated cross-border cargo handling

Stronger alignment between maritime ports and inland distribution centers

This enhanced infrastructure is set to improve overall supply chain performance by increasing efficiency, strengthening distribution networks, and ensuring greater reliability in cargo transport between major regional markets.

From a broader economic perspective, the corridor will reinforce trade connectivity between the UAE and Saudi Arabia while supporting the continued expansion of intra-GCC trade. It is also expected to enable faster market access for businesses and contribute to more resilient, future-ready supply chains across key industries.
